Intereuropean publicly financed Media

Intereuropean publicly financed Media

In Europe there has been with "ARTE" the wonderful cooperation between Germany and France to bring the thought of the EU on the point. Friendship and knowlege is better than war and destruction. What is needed, beside the eurovision cooperation a media, which itself could take a similar place like ARD in Germany or ORF in Austria. First Class Journalism and educational programs to educate the people and show the thought of Europe to the people.

Points

It wouldn't only build up the European Identity, it would also help to fasten european democracy processes, because people can inform themselves more broadly. But aware: I also think, that it has to be controlled by the parliament and the commission in a gremium, so that all corpses are represented in it, like in publicly controlled medias on national or local level.

Fellow panellist Wilhelm Amann said it best below: "But [be] aware: I also think, that it has to be controlled by the parliament and the commission in a gremium, so that all corpses are represented in it, like in publicly controlled medias on national or local level." Rough interpretation: An inter-european media body could just as easily be corrupted as any national or local media? Essential, then, for open source security to be matched with open source ethics.

Absolutely essential. Public media are too locked into national identities. An inter-european media alliance would help offset, for example, nationalist bias in news with urgencies of regional priority. Lessons learnt could then be applied to other regional partnerships, building to a global #4thestate
