At present we have a collection of competing bus companies that do not accept each other's tickets. There needs to be a single ticketting system that is accepted across all bus operators. Going a step further, this then needs to be expanded to include other forms of transport, such as trains, taxis, bicycle hire, etc. This has long been a feature of many European cities, so the technology is already available.
